How to organise an Indian food order for a small group

By Samway Grill · · 3 min read

A group food order usually becomes complicated before anyone reaches checkout: one person wants biryani, another wants naan, and someone is still choosing a curry. For a small shared meal from Samway Grill, a simple plan can keep the order clear without turning dinner into a spreadsheet.

Collect the decisions that affect everyone

Ask whether people want shared dishes or individual choices. Then collect vegetarian preferences, ingredient requirements and any spice questions. Those answers affect the order more than whether one person slightly prefers garlic naan to plain. Keep ingredient requests attached to the person or dish they concern so they do not get lost in a group message.

Do not assume a vegetarian dish meets every other dietary requirement. Use the dietary guide as a starting point and contact the restaurant for recipe questions. Settle those questions before submitting a shared order.

Compare the listed combos with a custom basket

Samway’s menu includes vegetarian and non-vegetarian combos labelled for two, three and four people. The dishes vary across the packages, so a larger combo is not necessarily just a multiplied version of the smallest one. Read each combination rather than choosing by the number alone.

The group combo page is a useful comparison point. Check the current live menu for included dishes, bread, rice, drinks and prices. For larger requests, call Samway rather than assuming the standard checkout can accommodate any quantity or timing.

Give each extra dish a reason to be there

When building your own basket, consider a mix of sauce styles and main ingredients. A creamy curry, a lentil or chickpea dish, and a roasted appetizer provide different eating experiences. Three similar creamy curries may be exactly what your group wants, but make that a choice rather than an accident.

Biryani changes the side calculation because it already includes seasoned rice. Likewise, a combo may already include naan and steamed rice. Before adding more, ask what is missing from the shared meal. Our biryani comparison explains how it fits beside curries.

Have one person review the final order

A single person should check the basket, service choice and contact details before checkout. That reduces the chance of separate orders arriving at different times or someone assuming that another person added the bread. Use this short check before you order online.

  • Read the actual quantities and included sides for every combo.
  • Check dish names against the group’s preferences and confirmed ingredient requirements.
  • Choose pickup or delivery and review the timing shown by the ordering system.
  • Keep the confirmation available and check its status rather than assuming the order was accepted.

Make collection easy for the group

If one person is collecting, send them the order details and the restaurant directions. Samway Grill is at Suite 101, 2100 8th Street East in Saskatoon. For a change or a question about the order, contact the restaurant directly rather than sending a second order to correct the first.
